Sr. System Administrator - SanJose

The Sr. System Administrator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all IT infrastructure systems including Windows domain systems, Linux servers, business application servers, NetApp FAS systems, VMWare system, networking systems, email and SharePoint on Microsoft Office 365, and internal user’s computers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to all IT infrastructure issues, including server installation, configuration, tuning, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform, monitor, and maintain comprehensive routine operations, such as system healthy monitoring, performance tuning up, backup and restore, etc.
  • Applying patches and updates to servers and user’s computers.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on server/application configurations, changes, tuning, and patch levels.
  • Provide desktop/laptop, network, and phone system support to staff, including remote offices.
  • Monitor application performance, server performance, and network performance.
  • Support projects associated with implementation of network and server applications.
  • Participate with vendors during problem analysis and solution.
  • Provide IT technical support to internal users.
  • Support internal phone equipment.


  • 5+ years of hands-on system administration experience in a corporate IT environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar.
  • Proven ability to design, implement, monitor and manage Linux servers, including RHEL 5/6/7, CentOS, Ubuntu, and Windows servers (2008 and 2012).
  • Strong hands-on experience of Linux administration in supporting R&D environment, including Subversion, Perforce, Bugzilla, twiki, Flexlm license daemon, etc.
  • Extensive Active Directory design and administration experience.
  • Good working experience with managing CIFS, NFS, NIS, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Basic scripting skills for IT automation tools (PowerShell, Perl, Linux shell script, etc.) are required.
  • Hands-on experience with building and maintaining VMWare vSphere environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Office 365 administration is desired, including email, SharePoint, and SFB.
  • Hands-on experience with NetApp FAS system is preferred.
  • Experience with common server monitoring tools (e.g. Nagios, Cacti) is desired.
  • LAN/WAN networking experience is a plus.
  • Experience working with globally distributed sites and groups is desired.
  • Strong analytical skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and take ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Strong teamwork skills along with the ability to work independently.
