Quantenna Showcases World’s First 4x4 MU-MIMO 802.11ac System At The Cable Show 2014

Fastest Wi-Fi Plus MU-MIMO Drives Improved User Experience and Optimized Network Efficiency
to Conserve Precious Spectrum Resource

Los Angeles, Calif. – April 28, 2014 -- Quantenna Communications, Inc., the leader in ultra-high performance Wi-Fi, today announced it is demonstrating the world’s first 4x4 MU-MIMO 802.11ac system at The Cable Show. Featuring the award winning QSR1000, the world’s fastest and first Wave 2 802.11ac Wi-Fi chipset, Quantenna is showing how MU-MIMO improves user experience while optimizing network efficiency to conserve precious spectrum resources.

The full potential of today’s complex MIMO access points is not being realized due to the dominance of mobile devices and challenging channels. The performance of today’s complex MIMO access points could be further enhanced with MU-MIMO which allows concurrent transmissions to multiple devices, therefore increasing spectral efficiency and network performance. Massive/high order MIMO access points can now establish simultaneous communication to several lower order clients like single antenna mobile devices. This significantly improves spectral efficiency resulting in higher performance in the same channels.

“MU-MIMO is the revolutionary feature of 802.11ac, just as MIMO was to 802.11n. Wireless traffic is growing exponentially, primarily driven by streaming video services and applications. Serving this growth while improving performance must be done with the maximum spectral efficiency,” said Dr. Sam Heidari, CEO of Quantenna Communications. “Spectrum is a precious resource; being spectrum efficient is important for the growth of Wi-Fi technology. Simply adding more radios to an access point and occupying a greater portion of the spectrum is a short-sighted and inefficient approach, and if applied broadly will be harmful to the overall quality of the scarce 5GHz spectrum. Increasing spectrum efficiency with MU-MIMO is a better solution to serve growing wireless traffic.”

Dr. Heidari also added, “Quantenna’s leadership in 802.11n has carried over into 802.11ac by delivering the first 4x4 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi chipsets, which have established the benchmark in speed, range, efficiency and reliability. Next year we will extend this leadership by being the first to enable 8x8 MU-MIMO 10 Gbps Wi-Fi systems.”

Quantenna will demonstrate MU-MIMO in its suite #ES-43 at The Cable Show 2014 from April 29th to May 1st in Los Angeles. Contact: quantenna@lewispr.com to arrange an appointment at the show.
