LitePoint and Quantenna Communications Reveal Design and Test Insights

Seminar features gigabit and 4x4 MIMO wireless reliable design and manufacturing test innovations

Sunnyvale, CA, Sept. 23, 2009 – LitePoint Corporation, a leader in wireless test-system solutions, and Quantenna Communications, a leading developer of silicon for ultra reliable, high speed wireless whole home networking, held a joint seminar, today, to show designers of high-speed wireless networks how to avoid pitfalls and how to test such devices in high-volume production.

“The higher-speed Wi-Fi 4x4 MIMO network designs enable new applications for whole-home HD video distribution, but increase the challenge for designing reliable high-speed wireless capabilities,” said Todd Tokubo, Quantenna’s senior director of applications engineering. “We shared our own experience in describing ways to go from reference design to full-blown device without compromising reliability in the process.”

The advent of MIMO-enabled Wi-Fi, specified in IEEE 802.11n, has given the Wi-Fi market a shot of adrenalin by making it easier to increase range, speed or both. The high end of the specification encompasses speeds that enable applications that were not feasible before, such as a single set-top box providing multiple, high-definition, video feeds to multiple HD TVs, for example.

“As Todd said, the faster you want things to go, the greater the challenge in keeping the design reliable,” reiterated John Lukez, LitePoint’s director of product management. “We’ve got high-speed MIMO Wi-Fi design verification covered (with IQnxn), and have an innovative approach to high-volume manufacturing test, now. The seminar provided us with an opportunity to show how to test multiple MIMO Wi-Fi DUTs in parallel while preserving the testing simplicity for which we are well known.”
