Company Overview

Quantenna Communications, Inc. is a leading developer of silicon for high-speed, wireless high definition (HD) video home networking. Quantenna is focused on solving today’s home networking challenges. These challenges include delivering ultra-reliable, high-speed wireless coverage throughout the whole home to support sharing of high definition (HD) video and multimedia content between home gateways and TVs anyplace, anywhere. Quantenna’s technology is targeted at devices such as home residential gateways, set-top boxes, routers, HDTVs and consumer electronic devices, which all require high bandwidth and reliability to support whole home HD video distribution and networking over standard Wi-Fi networks.

HD Video Wi-Fi Technology

Quantenna chipsets are the industry’s first fully integrated, standards-based, 802.11n/Wi-Fi chipsets with 4x4 multiple input/multiple output (MIMO) technology and dynamic digital beamforming. These chipsets are designed to deliver dramatically higher levels of Wi-Fi performance, while meeting the growing need for increased speed, reliability and complete home coverage for HD Wi-Fi home networking.

Performance Advantage

Quantenna’s unique combination of technologies effectively achieves improvements of up to four times the coverage and as much as twice the throughput of existing solutions on the market. Next generation Wi-Fi networks that combine 4x4 MIMO – which use four radio transceivers and four antennas – with dynamic digital beamforming at the chip level will have a distinct performance advantage over current technology on the market. This advantage results from the fact that a 4x4 MIMO system that supports two data streams can provide two extra antennas for beamforming, which adds an extra dimension of reliability per data stream. When combined, these technologies can deliver system gains in the 12 to 25 dB range.

By integrating 4x4 MIMO with dynamic digital beamforming, the chipsets are adaptive and dynamically adjust to conditions in the milliseconds time frame. The chip’s DSP coupled to four antennas are communicating and making constant on-chip transmitter and receiver adjustments in real time. This provides a number of important benefits for delivering wireless HD and multimedia content over standard home Wi-Fi networks. These benefits include:

  • Intelligent high-speed performance and consistency anywhere in the home, even hard to reach corners; and
  • Ultra-reliable connectivity with interference rejection.

Quantenna’s Products

Quantenna’s family of wireless solutions includes a broad range of products:

  • QHS1000: A fully integrated chipset solution with up to 1 Gbps performance. It is available as a dual 4x4 or quad 2x2 and operates on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz spectrums concurrently.
  • QHS600: A fully integrated single chip solution with up to 600 Mbps link speed. The chip is available as single 4x4 or dual 2x2 and operates on the less crowded 5 GHz spectrum for bandwidth-intensive applications such as video.
  • QHS450: A fully integrated single chip solution with up to 450 Mbps link speed. It is available as single 4x4 or dual 2x2 and operates on 2.4 GHz spectrum for data-intensive applications.
  • Quantenna OS: A full-featured access point operating software that runs on the Quantenna family of products, dramatically reducing development time frames for equipment vendors. Quantenna also enables equipment vendors to port their own software features on to Quantenna chipsets to further reduce BOM cost.

Features

Protected by 14 core and fundamental patents, Quantenna’s family solutions delivers high-speed, multimedia wireless networking within pioneering a new paradigm in wireless networking by offering:

  • Total coverage of any size home, anywhere: Integration of mesh networking capability with spectrum management in the Quantenna chipsets ensure total coverage of the entire home despite interferences.
  • Unrivaled reliability and performance:: The Quantenna chipsets are the first and only silicon on the market today to employ 4x4 MIMO radio transceivers and dynamic digital beamforming. Together, these technologies deliver dramatically better performance and reliability for complete home coverage versus competing in-room only solutions.
  • Unmatched integration: Quantenna offers the first 802.11n chipset with concurrent dual mode and an integrated high-efficiency power amplifier (PA) with 18 dBm output power, LNA, VGA, switches, baluns, and diplexers. Quantenna’s products offer the ability to choose the spectrum so the less crowded 5 GHz band can be allocated for real-time video and multimedia, while legacy data applications can use the more crowded 2.4 GHz band.
  • Lowest BOM cost: Because vendors can now achieve superior performance with the highly integrated Quantenna chipset – instead of requiring multiple chips and boards to achiever lesser performance – the total BOM cost is significantly reduced.
  • High level of Security and Quality for Services (QoS): Quantenna’s compliance with the Wi-Fi security standards – such as wired equivalent privacy (WEP), Wi-Fi protected access (WPA) and Radius – provides consumers, carriers and businesses with the highest level of security for their wireless networks. Compliance with Wi-Fi multimedia (WMM) 802.11e QoS features allows for reliable handling of multimedia transmissions between various third-party Wi-Fi devices.
