Quantenna Shows Industry’s Most Reliable 4x4 MIMO 802.11n Wi-Fi Home Networking Chipset at CableLabs Summer Conference

Come See High-Definition Wireless IPTV Service Delivery with 1080p Quality, Whole-Home Coverage and Full Wi-Fi Compatibility

KEYSTONE, Colorado, Aug. 11, 2010 -- Quantenna Communications, Inc., a leading developer of silicon for high-speed, 802.11n, wireless high definition (HD) video home networking, today announced it is showcasing at the CableLabs Summer Conference here the industry’s only 4x4 MIMO wireless home networking chipset that incorporate the entire range of Full-11n™ Wi-Fi features which are necessary to deliver multiple full HD video streams with 1080p quality anywhere in the home, while maintaining full compatibility with existing 802.11n products.

Quantenna will be demonstrating its Full-11n chipset at the Keystone Conference Center next week starting August 16th from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and August 17h from noon to 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The chipset will be shown delivering three high-quality, low-latency H.264-encoded HD video streams with 1080p resolution. Quantenna’s chipset is the only one of its kind to deliver 100Mbps data rates over 100-foot distances with near-perfect packet-error-rate (PER) data-transfer performance, operating in a point-to-multipoint service configuration.

Quantenna’s third-generation chipset fully supports the IEEE802.11n standard with advanced features including 4x4 Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO). It also incorporates extensions to the IEEE802.11n standard including dynamic digital beamforming, mesh networking and wireless channel monitoring and optimizing. These features work together to deliver up to 25 dB performance improvement across five times the coverage area as compared to earlier WLAN technology. Wi-Fi networks that use Quantenna chipsets are capable of delivering the same quality as wired Ethernet, while guaranteeing compatibility with existing and future IEEE 802.11n-compliant products. The chipsets also minimize system latencies for real-time applications such as online bidirectional video-game controllers.

“Quantenna’s third-generation Full-11n 4x4 MIMO Wi-Fi chipsets will enable carriers to deploy triple-play voice, data and video services for applications ranging from IPTV delivery to full HD video programming, while reducing customer support requirements and minimizing truck rolls and overall deployment costs,” said David French, Quantenna CEO. “We will be demonstrating our chipset’s full range of capabilities at the CableLabs Summer Conference, while showing cable operators how they can support new service models such as centralized, multi-channel DVRs, remote DVR/STB maintenance and management, digital rights management, and content/privacy security.”

Additional details about Quantenna’s demonstration include:

  • HDMI-equivalent streaming quality: Quantenna will provide a side-by-side comparison showing the equivalent quality of direct HDMI video streams and those transmitted as H.264-encoded video over a Quantenna-enabled 802.11n wireless network.
  • Carrier IPTV services: Quantenna will show a wireless video residential gateway that delivers a superior customer experience with carrier-grade reliability.
