Dr. Herbert May

Dr. Herbert May has held senior management roles in major global technology companies including Alcatel, Deutsche Telekom AG, DeTeSystems (now T-Systems), ACNielsen Germany and gate5.

While at Alcatel, Dr. May held several leading roles, including most recently the head of the Office Communications Division, during which he oversaw sales, marketing, professional services and manufacturing functions. In 1994, acting in the position of CEO, Dr. May took a leading role in establishing DeTeSystems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom AG that provides system solutions for telecommunications services. In 1995, he was appointed to the board of management of Deutsche Telekom AG, where he was responsible for large business customers, multimedia and systems solutions and participated as a member of the road show team of DT in their IPO in 1996. In 1999 he served as CEO of ACNielsen Germany in Market Research in Fast Moving Consumer Goods.

In 2006, Dr. May played a leading role in the sale of gate5 to Nokia, one of the major technology deals in Europe that year. He had been chairman of the board of gate5 for about three years.

Currently, Dr. May manages his own consulting and investment company and is a member of the advisory boards of several companies. He serves on the board of directors of InfoVista S.A., a publicly held French company providing software products that monitor and analyze the performance of corporate IT infrastructures. He also serves on the board of and Versant Corporation (NASDAQ: VSNT), an industry leader in specialized data management software.

Dr. May received his degree in Telecommunications, as well as a Ph.D., from Stuttgart University.
